The Meadowlands resumes live racing on Friday, November 18 and will continue with two cards per week through the Christmas holiday.
Be advised that live racing will be on Thursday and Friday the 15th & 16th and 22nd & 23rd of December due to a Jets game on December 17 and Christmas Eve falling on a Saturday this year. The last week of December will see Thursday added as a third live date and there will be live racing on New Year's Eve.
On Friday, the GSY Amateur Series returns with a strong presence, fielding two full divisions going to post as races one and three.
The Friday feature is the seventh race, a high level condition/optional claimer for pacing mares. It's an interesting mix, as six of the ten show no Meadowlands lines in their past performance making the race a real head-scratcher.
Icommandmyspirit has recent Meadowlands form that is hard to fault with a second and third her last two, both at this level, for trainer John Bavosi and owner Cheryl Costello. Inittowinafortune faced the sport's best mares in the TVG Championship Final her last and gets considerable class relief this week for Mike Russo and owner Michael Pagonas.
Owner Eric Cherry has a pair going forth under his nom de course of Let It Ride Stables. Gweneeee J and Totally Rusty will start side by side from posts 4 and 5 and both are in good form. Gweneeee J, trained in the Linda Toscano stable, loves the big track and has a strong closing kick while Totally Rusty comes in off a forwardly placed win at Harrah's Philly for the Ross Croghan barn.
Saturday brings the annual Meadowlands calendar giveaway where 1,000 lucky fans will receive the 2016-2017 version filled with memories of the 2016 racing season, courtesy of track photographer Lisa Photo. The giveaway begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Players Club Desk in the Clubhouse Lobby, with a limit of one calendar per person.
The standard wagering options apply all weekend, with first race post time set for 7:15 p.m.
