New Restrictions, Measures At Mohawk

Published: November 14, 2020 10:12 am EST

On Saturday (Nov. 14) Woodbine Entertainment issued an update regarding the Ontario government’s announcement that placed the region of Halton -- home to Woodbine Mohawk Park -- in the province's red COVID-19 control zone.

The update appears below.

Attention Woodbine Horsepeople,

Please be advised that the Ontario Government announced yesterday (Nov. 13, 2020) that the Halton region will join other regions in the province’s red “control” zone as of Monday November 16 at 12:01 a.m.

What does this mean for Woodbine Mohawk Park?

Live horse racing is permitted to continue and will carry on as scheduled. However, due to the new health measures in Halton region, we will be temporarily closing our restaurants and racebook as of Monday, November 16 at 12:01 a.m.

The new restrictions permit us to host 25 guests outside and 10 guests inside the grandstand. We will keep our apron open and use our outside/inside guest allocation on a priority basis beginning with our owners.

Mohawk Harvest Kitchen restaurant at Woodbine Mohawk Park will continue to operate this weekend and reservations will be honoured. The Harvest Kitchen will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, November 16. Tim Hortons will also be temporarily closing as of Monday.

The Ontario Government’s announcement has also resulted in the temporary closure of Elements Casino Mohawk.

While the Government attempts to flatten the latest COVID-19 curve, let’s continue to do our part by following all of the health and safety protocols that have been implemented to protect our employees, horsepeople and live racing program.

Thank you in advance for your understanding, cooperation and support.

These measures are too extreme. All summer long owners were allowed outside, on the tarmac, with masks on. Now if an owner, who spends thousands of dollars on horses, may attend the races for 20 minutes.
