Last Call To Register For Equine First Aid

Time is running out to register for Equine Guelph’s online short course on “Equine First Aid” that runs from November 8 – 15.

This is one of the short courses on Equine Guelph’s Horse Portal featuring practical, flexible learning, and available this fall/winter to Standardbred Canada’s members with a 15 per cent partner discounted rate.

For those who have never taken an online course before, no prior online learning experience is required, and the course format is flexible with “24/7” access available.

The course curriculum includes:

1. Principles of Triage
2. Horse Assessment
3. Wound Management
4. The First Aid Kit
5. Responding to Eye Issues

Coming up right after Equine First Aid is "Horse Behaviour & Safety," offered from November 15 – 26. The course covers:

1. Horse Behaviour – Wild vs Stabled
2. How Horses See and Hear
3. Herd Behaviour – How Horses Interact with Each Other
4. Horse Handling – Basic Safety Around Horses
5. Rider/Helmet Safety
6. Safe Trailering – Basics
7. Fire Safety
8. Safety around the Barn and Paddocks
9. Returning from an Injury

These courses and the final course of the year, "Fire & Emergency Preparedness" (December 6 – December 13), are available this fall at TheHorsePortal.ca to SC members at the discounted rate of 15 per cent off.

Equine Guelph has been a pioneer and global leader in online education for equine professionals since its inception in 2003. The Horse Portal was launched in 2017 and became a national success, partnering with 10 English-speaking provincial equestrian federations across Canada.
