Rose Run Quest Headlines Preferred

There has been nothing standing in the way of the winner’s circle for Rose Run Quest in the preferred ranks in recent weeks and he will look for more of the same in the featured event Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval will host racing Saturday and Sunday for the next four weeks. Sunday's first race post time is set for 12:30 P.M. with 13 races carded.

Preferred pacers hit the track in Race 12 for a $2,900 purse. Rose Run Quest has the outside in the field of seven by virtue of his three straight victories at this level. Marc Campbell trains and drives the son of If I Can Dream for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. Nogreatmischief leaves from post five in the Sunday contest after a victory in the top class on closing day at Red Shores Summerside for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie. Screen Test has post six with Corey MacPherson at the lines after a third-place finish at this level last time out.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac sees the race as Rose Run Quest’s to lose.

“Rose Run Quest has been so dominant in his last three starts that you have to believe the road to the winner's circle goes through him again, post seven or not,” MacIsaac said.

Other entries include Varadero Hanover (Ken Murphy), Best To Hurst (Jason Hughes), IC True Grit (Mike McGuigan) and Rockin Indy (David Dowling).

The back-up pace will line up in race 11 as Souverain looks to extend his four-race win streak from the rail for driver MacPherson and owner-trainer Phil Sizer of Kensington. Other top entrants in the $2,400 class are Eagle Jolt (Campbell) and Bank Of Dad (Adam Merner).
