A judges life when out on the road can be a lonely one, especially when far from home. On those occasions when Jim worked Windsor Raceway, he and I would spend the odd morning at Caesars, taking in their 10am poker tournaments. We had a deal that we would split any winnings. After watching him at the poker table during the day, and then in the judges stand at night, I can tell you this: Jim Thatcher was a good poker player, but, he was a great judge!
