With a heavy heart, the family of Standardbred racehorse owner Paulette Brayshaw of Edmonton, who is well known in the Alberta Standardbred industry, has announced that the much-loved matriarch passed away last month (on Sept. 12).

Paulette, the beloved mother, sister, grandma, auntie, and a dear friend of so many, will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother, Lucienne Hebert; sons, Darren (Monique) and Brent (Jo-Anne); Daughter-In-Law, Tracy; Brothers, Dan (Sandra), Clem (Bonnie) and Marcel (Marilynne); sister, Priscilla, as well as her loving grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paulette was predeceased by her father, Jean; husband, Denis; sons, Todd and Duanne; brother, Lenard; and sister, Louise.

Paulette is well known in the horse racing industry in Alberta, as she was a great friend to everyone and was always there to listen and share in the celebrations with her family and friends at the track.

Paulette didn’t hesitate to be the shoulder to cry on when there was anyone in sorrow or in need. She was like a mother to so many on the backstretch. Her sewing creations were unique and one of a kind and many at the track and beyond have Paulette’s creations in their barns and homes.

A celebration of Paulette's life will be held at Northlands Park this coming Saturday (Oct. 13). Please join family and friends in the Chairman’s Suite at 12 noon for the celebration of Paulette’s life. Everyone is welcome.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Paulette Brayshaw.
