Standardbred Canada (SC) has introduced important updates to the ownership transfer process for yearlings purchased at Canadian sales, aimed at streamlining procedures and improving the experience for both breeders and buyers.

Ownership transfer fees will continue to be added directly to each yearling’s purchase invoice, ensuring transparency and convenience for purchasers. Once the sale company has completed its process and released the yearlings’ ownerships to Standardbred Canada, SC will promptly record all new ownership details provided by buyers.

If new ownership details are not submitted at the time of transfer, the yearling will be registered under the individual who signed the bid acknowledgement form, as per the official sale results.

To further assist buyers, SC will offer free ownership updates for up to 15 days after new ownership has been entered into the database. Any changes requested after this period will be subject to standard transfer fees.

Buyers are encouraged to visit SC staff in the sales office or contact the SC Member Services Department at the head office to provide new ownership details and ensure a smooth, accurate transfer process.

“Our goal is to make the ownership transfer process as seamless and efficient as possible for everyone involved,” said Linda Bedard, Manager & Registrar at Standardbred Canada. “Having accurate ownership records is essential for maintaining data integrity and managing all future transactions. We encourage all buyers to connect with our staff at the sales office or reach out to our office shortly after the sale to confirm their ownership details.”
