Filly Forty Seven Favoured At Red Shores

Filly Forty Seven has been used to racing the best mares on the East Coast all season and will now drop a notch as she sets her eyes on victory in the Thursday evening (Oct. 7) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 10-dash Thursday presentation has a 6 p.m. opening post time with the $2,400 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace taking to the track in Race 9. Filly Forty Seven is saddled with post four as the morning line choice with Marc Campbell picking up the catch-drive for trainer Darryl MacLean, who co-owns the mare with Cory Carver, Katelyn Smallwood and Alan MacDonald. The daughter of Proven Lover has scored four wins this season and will look for win number 39 of her career in the class after not hitting the board her last two outings in the top mare’s class.

Ill Tell Me Ma has been sharp from the Colin Johnson stable with the daughter of Ameripan Gigolo drawing post five this week with David Dowling returning to the race bike. The pacing mare was second her last start and scored a pair of wins in the two starts previous to that. The Jennifer Doyle-trained duo of Elm Grove Mistress (to be driven by Adam Merner) and Southwind Ion (Kenny Arsenault) have posts one and two, respectively.

Michele Z Tam (Jason Hughes) holds down post three with the outside belonging to Pacific Delight (Gilles Barrieau).

Peter MacPhee sees a bounce back performance in the cards for Filly Forty Seven as he places her on top of the Post Time Picks: “Filly Forty Seven has been living on the edges for the past two weeks but up against the best mares in the region. Slightly better post for this one and Campbell hops up so this could be the night she returns to her winning ways.”

Majian Tango is the top entry in the Race 5 trot class with $2,050 on the line. Jim Ripley trains and drives the son of Tad The Stud for owner Marylea Ripley of Amherst, P.E.I.
