NJSS Series Finals At Freehold Friday

The New Jersey Sire Stakes - Standardbred Development Fund series will continue at Freehold Raceway on Friday (Oct. 9) with a pair of finals for two-year-old trotters. Both attracted a field of eight.

The fillies will do battle in Race 7, which carries a scheduled post time of 2:30 p.m. (EDT). Ake Svanstedt is scheduled to send out two: Illuminata, from Post 1, and Wet My Whistle, from Post 4. Both fillies won their division of the first leg back on September 25. They passed the second leg, but both look imposing in the final.

Spruce Creek and Rebel Girl look like the toughest challengers to the Svanstedt duo. Spruce Creek won the second leg by a neck after finishing second in the first leg. Rebel Girl coasted on the lead in her division of the second leg after finishing second in the Kindergarten the week prior at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Svanstedt holds another tough hand in the final for colts and geldings. He has three of the races' eight entrants. Calle Palema won the second leg last week with a gate-to-wire performance. He's once again got Post 1. His stablemates are Swan By Land, who lost his division of the first leg by a neck, and Capital T Storm, who led most of the way in his division of that leg before finishing second.

The first race at Freehold on Friday will be at 12:30 p.m.
