Grand River Raceway launches its newest initiative, Project iDrive, this Friday night, October 8. The interactive event will see eight fans race against one another in two exhibition races during the track’s regular broadcast

.

Presented in cooperation with the Ontario Harness Horse Association, participants will drive retired Standardbreds in double-seated jog carts, and will be assisted by pro drivers.

The eight participants will be determined through two contests:

1 - Four people will be drawn from entries posted on Grand River Raceway’s Facebook page or by email to [email protected]

Fans must post or email an explanation of why they want to drive a racehorse. The deadline is noon on Oct. 6 and four winners will be randomly drawn and announced that evening.

2 - Four people will be drawn randomly at the track via ballots in the October 8th race program. Ballots must be submitted to the iDrive drum before the start of race four.

Participants must be 18 or older. Post time is 6:30 p.m. for Grand River Raceway’s final Friday race night of the 2010 season.
