The Meadowlands simulcast signal will now feature bonus interview coverage with trainers and drivers to help facilitate the delivery of pertinent handicapping information to the betting public.
Interviews will be conducted by The Meadowlands' TV talent team during the pre-race show and early in the race card, featuring drivers and trainers who have horses entered that night. While the practice of conducting such interviews is not new the simulcast signal, The Meadowlands team will be making a concerted effort to feature more between-race interviews than in the past.
Part of this effort includes offering video interviews on Twitter (@TheMeadowlands). By sharing the interviews on social media, horseplayers have the option of watching (and re-watching) the videos at their convenience.
The decision to feature additional horsepeople on the simulcast signal was catalyzed by requests from the betting public.
“Horseplayers value our track handicappers' opinions, but that is often not enough,” said Jason Settlemoir, the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of The Meadowlands. “Our players want the opinions of the horsemen as well, and we are going to answer their call with more television coverage.”
All horsepeople are encouraged to provide as much information as possible to aid customers in handicapping the races.
Racing fans and horseplayers can find the additional interviews beginning this coming weekend when The Meadowlands hosts The Breeders Crown.
