The Breeders Crown, harness racing's greatest night, will be carried Saturday, October 24 on a two-hour special edition of Sirius XM radio's 'Race of the Week.'
The show will air from 9 to 11 p.m. and can be heard on Sirius Channel 126 and XM Channel 243.
The two-hour show was made possible through the generosity of Hanover Shoe Farm and Standardbred Horse Sales Company, which have sponsored the broadcast. Bill Finley, a New York Times sportswriter, will host the broadcast. Owner-trainer Peter Kleinhans will serve as the analyst.
"We are trying to expose this great sport to as many people as possible and we think we are doing a pretty good job of it," said Lucas Marquardt, an associate producer with Creative Media Productions, which will produce the broadcast. "This year alone, we have carried live coverage of the Hambletonian, the Little Brown Jug, the Metro Pace, the North America Cup and, now, the Breeders Crown. I am positive that we are creating some new fans of harness racing.
"I must also thank the folks at Hanover Shoe Farm and Standardbred Horse Sales Company. Without a doubt, this never would have happened if they did not step up and help us out."
Five Breeders Crown races will be carried live. Three additional Breeders Crown races will air on a tape-delayed basis.
Sirius XM is available throughout North America and has more than 21 million subscribers.
