The initial 2020 Ontario Select Yearling Sale is in the books with trotting-bred colt All In Resolve fetching the highest sale price.
Taking place at Winbak Farm of Canada on Saturday (Oct. 17) the Ontario Select Yearling Sale was Ontario's first live Standardbred yearling auction since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. According to sale manager Pat Woods, everyone involved with the new hybrid sale process that combined both live and online bidding adjusted well and were appreciative of the effort.
"The consignors were so patient and helpful and on the ball. I can't say enough about those farms and consignors, they were paramount in getting this done properly."
There were no issues with respect to COVID-19 guidelines during the sale according to Woods, with horsemen doing a great job keeping appropriate physical distance and following the rules.
"It seemed like there was a positive atmosphere out there among the buyers, people were happy with the horses they got."
Topping the sale was All In Resolve, a trotting-bred colt from the first crop of world champion Resolve and out of the Muscle Mass Mare Im A Munchie Girl -- sister to the sensational Pure Ivory, and she the dam of 2019 Hambletonian winner and Canada's Horse of the Year Forbidden Trade. Consigned to the sale by Preferred Equine, All In Resolve was purchased by Scott McEneny of Puslinch, Ont. for $140,000.
Detailed sales averages will be made available by the sale company shortly. For the list of sale prices from the 2020 Ontario Select Yearling Sale, click the following link: 2020 Ontario Select Yearling Sale Results.
