A reminder to all Prince Edward Island breeders that if you have broodmares owned by non-island residents residing at your farm, you will be required to submit a Broodmare Declaration Form for those mares to meet the Island Residency requirements.
The mare must have resided at your farm for 183 days during the 2023 foaling year for their offspring from 2023 to qualify for nomination to the Lady Slipper or Joe O'Brien stakes. The form must be signed by the farm owner or manager at which the mare resides. The deadline to submit this form will be Dec. 1, 2023.
The P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association (PEIHRIA) will also be offering the Foal Incentive for 2023. To be eligible for the $250 incentive, your broodmare must meet the Island Residency requirements (reside in P.E.I. for 183 days during the 2023 foaling year) and have foaled on P.E.I. in 2023. The deadline to submit this form will be Dec. 31, 2023.
