John Perron of Guelph, Ont. is the first of three players in the Ontario Harness Horse Association Handicapping Tournament to advance to the $25,000 Trot

National Handicapping Championship.

Perron boasted four winners and one runner-up in the six-race contest presented by OHHA and hosted by Grand River Raceway on October 15.

The contest concludes next Thursday, October 22 with another $400 in prize money and two spots for the TCNHC in Ottawa on November 8.

The winner of each contest on October 15 and 22 automatically advances to the TCNHC. In addition, all entries from both nights will be combined and one player will be randomly drawn to fill OHHA’s third spot at the coveted event.

The three OHHA Handicapping Contest winners will join Grand River’s representatives — Gary Montgomery, Pat Salter and Mike Hanhan — in an all-expenses paid trip to Ottawa November 7 – 9 for the $25,000 showdown.
