Joe Goguen Passes

In loving memory of Joe Goguen

Longtime harness racing industry participant Joseph “Joe” Goguen, 90, of Dieppe, N.B, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at the Moncton Albert Hospice House.

Born in Memramcook, he was the son of the late Edouard “Ned” Goguen and the late Alva (Melanson) Goguen.

Joe was a harness racing driver who guided Senator Sis, Miramichi Post, Senator George, and his favourite, Analizor, and others to countless free for all races including the Monctonian and Gold Cup and Saucer along with several track records. A highlight of his career was winning a race in Fredericton with Abbeyland where he got to meet and chat with her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

Joe was a member of the Dieppe and Moncton Wall of Fame. During the winter months, Joe was involved in and bowled in various leagues. 

He is survived by his spouse of 68 years, Joanne; his two sons: Donald, and Mark (Tricia); his granddaughter, Brittany (Ryan); his brother, Normand (Florine); his sisters: Florida (Rock), Lillian (Grant), and Mary; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers: Leonard (Vi), Meddee (Therese), Oswald, Eugene, Raoul, Dollard, Victor, and Rodrigue (Sandra); as well as his sisters: Pauline (George), and Louise (Ken).

Visitation will be held from Passage-Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, N.B. E1A 1G1, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m.

A special thanks to the staff of the Moncton Residence where he happily spent his final years, and also a special thanks to the staff of the Moncton Albert House.
