Harness Racing British Columbia (HRBC) announced on Thursday, Jan. 6 that its board has made a final decision regarding dates and purse structure for the Keith Linton and Penny Bath Memorial Stakes for foals of 2018.
The eliminations for both the Linton and Bath will be held on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 and the final is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022. These dates are subject to potential adjustments due to weather and track conditions.
The purse will be adjusted to 75 per cent of the original allocated amount of $75,000 to the new purse of $56,250. The elimination purses will be $10,000 per division.
According to a statement by HRBC, the board, in its November 25, 2021 meeting, unanimously approved to race the Keith Linton and Penny Bath (foals of 2018) as four-year-olds in 2022. At the November 25 meeting, it was suggested that the race go in the later part of January, however, in the board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, it was agreed to move the dates into February due to the current weather and track conditions and make the adjustments to the purse.
