Bllack Hole started the racing season in July after recovering from surgery, but that didn’t slow him down on his way to winning six of seven starts to become the 2019 Ohio Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

Bllack Hole, a son of Mr. Apples out of the Modern Art mare Feel The Thunder, earned $226,948 for his owners, L & L Stables. Owned and trained by Clarence Foulk of Springfield, Ohio, Bllack Hole won the $300,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Final at Northfield Park in a lifetime best of 1:49.4.

“We knew he was good, but we didn’t think he was as good as he ended up being,” said Chad Foulk, son of the owner.

The unusual spelling of the gelding name, with two ‘L’s instead of one, is in reference to Chad’s two children and Clarence’s grandchildren Luke and Lilly.

Bllack Hole will be honoured at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association and United States Trotting Association’s District 1 Annual Awards Banquet January 18, 2020 at the University Area Marriott in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet can be purchased by calling the OHHA office at 614-221-3650 or by heading to www.ohha.com.
