Officials with the Meadowlands Racetrack have announced that the raceway will have a new first-race post time for its cards of live racing in January and February.
First-race post time for the Meadowlands will be moved to 6:35 p.m. for the eight weeks that encompass the entire months of January and February. The move comes on the heels of consecutive Saturday nights that produced nearly $7.4 million in combined handle.
"It is impossible to ignore the success we have had the past two Saturday nights of racing," said the track’s general manager, Jason Settlemoir. "Granted, we had two additional races each night, but the average per-race handle has shown significant gains as well. Moving post time up will enable us to card 14-race programs while our horse population supports it. This gives our horsemen additional opportunities to race as well."
It is anticipated that the Meadowlands will be able to card 14-races each night for the next two months. The wagering format will remain the same as the past two weekends, with the Pick Five beginning in race three, Early Pick Four in race five and Late Pick Four in race nine. The Jackpot Super Hi-5 wagers will be offered in races seven and 14.
