The northeastern United States is bracing for a wallop of winter weather, and officials from various Standardbred racetracks have announced cancellations and their alternative arrangements for racing activities scheduled for this week.
Also, on the Thoroughbred side of things, officials from Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pennsylvania have announced that the track’s scheduled card of live racing for Monday (January 26) that was to kick off at 12:25 p.m. has been cancelled.

In terms of Canadian Standardbred tracks that are scheduled to race Monday, Woodbine Racetrack has a 10-dash program slated to get underway at 7:25 p.m. The card features a $178,598.43 carryover for the Jackpot Hi-5 wager. Along with Woodbine, The Raceway at Western Fair District in London, Ont. is also scheduled to go postward with its scheduled Monday card. In terms of United States harness racing action, Monticello Raceway (12:25 p.m.), Dover Downs (4:30 p.m.), Northfield Park (6 p.m.) and Pompano Park (7:30 p.m.) are all scheduled to go forward with their scheduled cards of racing on Monday. At Pompano, track officials have guaranteed Monday night’s 50-cent Pick 5 pool at $10,000. Additionally, Pompano’s Jackpot Hi-Five carryover heading into Monday night’s final race is a track record $71,822. For more information, click here.

The Meadows Cancels Monday Card Due To Snow
The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has cancelled Monday’s live card due to heavy, persistent snow.
The track and its Harmar off-track location remain open for simulcast viewing and wagering.
Live racing at The Meadows is set to resume Tuesday, first post 12:55 p.m.

Monticello Raceway Cancels Racing On Tuesday
In advance of the impending winter storm, Monticello Raceway has cancelled live racing and all simulcasting for Tuesday, January 26.
Evening simulcasting will close today (Monday) starting at 6 p.m.
The scheduled qualifying session has also been moved to Thursday.

Officials from Freehold Raceway have announced that the New Jersey track has cancelled its program of live racing scheduled for Monday, January 26.

Yonkers Cancels Monday, Tuesday Live Racing, Amends Draw Schedule
Officials with Yonkers Raceway have announced that the track has cancelled its scheduled live racing programs for tonight (Monday, January 26) and tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, January 27) due to the impending blizzard that’s about to sublet the greater New York area.
Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday night (January 29), with first post at 7:10 p.m.
Afternoon simulcasting is taking place this (Monday) afternoon, after which all simulcasting has been cancelled until Wednesday (January 28).
Horsepeople are advised that the entry box for Friday’s (January 30) card closes today (Monday) at 11 a.m., and there is no draw tomorrow (Tuesday, January 27).
A double draw for Saturday (January 31) and Monday (February 2) will take place Wednesday (January 28), with the entry box closing at 9 a.m.

Meadowlands' Blizzard Plans
Officials with the Meadowlands Racetrack have announced that the Meadowlands and Winners OTW will be closing today (Monday, January 26) at 5 p.m. due to an incoming blizzard. Additionally, the track has changed the date for its scheduled qualifying session.
In addition, both locations will be closed for business on Tuesday, January 27. The Meadowlands and Winners will plan on re-opening at some point on Wednesday (January 28) based on the blizzard and the impact it has on the area.
In addition, the qualifying session that was originally scheduled for Thursday will be moved to Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.
Meadowlands officials have stated that they will update its plans for re-opening as soon as possible.
