Bob Montgomery, of Carp, Ont., passed on Wednesday (Jan. 22) at Smiths Falls Hospital in Smiths Falls, Ont. He was 79.
Montgomery, who recorded 63 training wins since training statistics were first recorded in 1992, was involved in harness racing for his entire life. His most notable horses were Northern Victory, Crooked Creek Cam and River Road Fortune, campaigning the latter two at Rideau Carleton Raceway through the 1990s. He received much attention for his efforts in saving Poohs Boy, who was shot in a field as a yearling.
A celebration of life will be held at the Iroquois Legion, 24 Dundas St., Iroquois, Ont., on Saturday (Jan. 25) between 1 and 6 p.m.
