Ross Toole Passes

Horseman Ross Melvin Toole of Truro, NS passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at home at age 82, surrounded by the people he loved.

Born July 2, 1930 in Leicester, NS, Ross was a son of the late Percy and Nita (Carter) Toole. He was known for his ability to fix things, working as a mechanic, auto painter and dairy systems installer.

Very involved in the sport of harness racing, Ross was proud to own and train many horses, including Tooles Gold, Saulsbrook Quick, Putnams Force and Keeptheballrollin. His favourite place was in the winner’s circle, having his photo taken with a winning horse.

He was the best father ever to Shannon (Dan Beattie), Cindy (Joe Green), and Janice (George Clish). He is also survived by his grandson, Dana Christie; brothers, Willard, Hubert, Albert, Earle, Gordon, Alton; sisters, Sadie, Dollie; friends, Glenda Gallop, Kelly MacEachen, many loved nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Lucy. Ross was predeceased by his wife, the former Hope Snow; infant son, Ross Dana; sisters, Janie, Miriam; brother, Merlin.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Honouring Ross’ wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
