Trot Insider has learned that a trust account has been set up for the family of Atlantic Post Calls editor Doug Harkness, who is continuing to recuperate from an extensive
December 1, 2009 heart surgery.
The trust account has been set up by Diane Daniels, Joe Kelly and Morah Kerr at the Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank location in Truro, Nova Scotia.
People looking to donate can do so via two routes.
The first way to donate is to make a cheque payable to 'TD Canada Trust' with the account number 6334035-5371. Individuals which choose to take this route to donate are advised that these donations will be anonymous.
The other way to donate is to make a cheque payable to 'TD Canada Trust' with the account number 6334035-5371, but to mail the cheque to the Truro Raceway. People that choose to mail the cheque to the raceway will be recognized for their complete contribution to the Harkness family.

Harkness, 71, is continuing to recuperate from a 10-hour surgery on December 1, 2009 in which he underwent a bi-valve replacement and triple bypass.
On Tuesday, January 12, Harkness was transferred from the cardiac unit of the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, NS to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Cumberland Regional Healthcare Hospital located in his hometown of Amherst, NS.
In addition to the trust account, a fundraiser for Harkness is currently in the works. Details of the fundraiser will be announced as soon as they are made available.
