Changes Continue At KY Commission

News broke over the course of the weekend that John Ward is out as executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.

An article by the Louisville Courier-Journal has cited a spokesman with the KHRC as confirming the change, but details were not divulged.

Ward was named executive director of the commission in February of 2012.

The former Thoroughbred conditioner captured the 1995 Kentucky Oaks with Gal In A Ruckus and won the Kentucky Derby in 2001 with Monarchos.

The article explains that Ward’s departure marks the second time in as many months that a change has taken place in the upper ranks of the KHRC. The commission’s previous chairman, Bob Beck, stepped aside in December of 2015.
