Scott Coulter put the pedal to the metal with Savage Seelster in Wednesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for horses and geldings at Grand River Raceway, and the gelding responded with a front-stepping score.

The Tracy Wilcox-trained Savage Seelster parked to the quarter pole in :27.1 before muscling to the front. He led through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:24.2 before using a :29.3 closing quarter to seal the deal. He held on to win by a neck over Button Up in 1:54. Sandburg Hanover tagged along throughout and finished third.

The five-year-old son of Camluck-Slick Gaited, who races for Kristina Wilcox and Nancy Rivard, now owns a 3-1-2 record from 10 starts this season. He’s potted 12 career wins while banking more than $63,000 along the way.
