Not even a fierce wind from the West could keep Armbro Chronicle from finding the winner’s circle at Woodbine Racetrack on Monday evening

, as the Kent Baker pupil downed five rivals to take home weekly bragging rights in the $50,000 Open Trot.

Last week’s Open Trot winner, Sakic Seelster, did the majority of the road work before making a final turn faux pas for driver Jack Moiseyev. The Ben Baillargeon pupil strolled through easy splits of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:26.4 before rolling off stride.

Armbro Chronicle, who sat the pocket trip for the first six furlongs in the eight-furlong affair, moved around the breaker and drew off to win by nearly four lengths. Stick Man Moe was second and Nineanddivine was fourth-placed-third. Sakic Seelster, who finished third, was placed back to sixth for causing interference while off stride coming out of the final turn.

Baker, who co-owns the seven-year-old son of Self Possessed with Cal Patterson, Jo Smith and Randy Fielder, watched the photogenic campaigner pick up his fourth win of the season and the 32nd victory of his career. To date, the gelding has banked $1,083,392.
