Two-year-old pacing colts and geldings were the stars of the show Thursday evening at Summerside Raceway, as the half-mile oval hosted six divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes.

Tobins Fusion clicked in the first of three $8,880 ‘A’ divisions for trainer/driver Gilles Barrieau. The son of Western Paradise-Hot Fusion took over early and cruised to a two-length win over My Kinda Crazy in 2:02.1. Third prize went to Wine To Go.

Sent off as the 1-2 choice in the six-horse affair, Tobins Fusion is now undefeated in three tries for owners Boyd Macdonald Prodce Ltd, Daniel Ross and Charles Seymour. The lion’s share of Thursday’s purse boosted his earnings to $6,876.

Super S Yzerman charged to the lead and never looked back on he got there for trainer/driver Clare MacDonald. The son of Western Paradise-Island Tradition dictated the tempo through soft panels of :30.2, 1:02 and 1:32.1 before turning on the jets. His :28.4 closing quarter helped propel the colt to a two-length win over Mr Comraderie. Rancousy grabbed the show dough.

The 6-5 favourite, who is a homebred owned by MacDonald and Morah Kerr, won for the first time in what was just her second lifetime start. The rookie has potted more than $4,500.

KD Just Hold On had to settle for second prize in his runner-up effort on July 1, but ten days removed from that runner-up effort he jumped up and went a big mile for trainer/driver Steve Mason. He came first-over and eventually wore down the leader en route to winning by a narrow margin. Pictonian Storm was next best, with Post Hate taking home third prize.

The 9-5 favourite, who is owned by Downey Stables, has yet to finish worse than second in his first two lifetime starts. The $11,000 purchase from last year’s Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale, bumped his lifetime earnings to $5,346 with the win.

Winning their respective $2,500 ‘B’ divisions were Just A Professor (2:02.2), Island Gigolo (2:03.4) and Elm Grove Intrepid (2:02.1).
