ASHA Policy Changes

The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association has a few policy changes that it would like its membership to be aware of.

Commencing with 2007 foals, late yearling nominations for the Alberta Sire Stakes will be permitted. The deadline is January 31, 2009. The fee is $500. Starting in 2009, yearlings that miss the initial nomination deadline will have two options to buy-back in: before July 31, $250; before December 31, $500.

The second ASHA policy change states that nominators that miss the January 1 deadline for registering their stallion, they may enter by paying a late fee of $1,000 or their advertised stud fee, whichever is greater. March 1 is the deadline for late payments.

No stallion is permitted to stand in the province of Alberta until the stallion is registered. Inclusion in the stallion directory will not be guaranteed for late registrations. The publication of the directory will not be delayed by late registrations.

If you have any questions with regard to these changes, contact the ASHA office at 403-263-7765.
