Panmunjom Romps In CDP Preferred

Gold Cup & Saucer Consolation winner Panmunjom wired a field of Preferred pacers in an impressive 1:53.4 to win the Saturday night feature event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Trainer Garry MacDonald sent Panmunjom to the front and carved out fractions of :27.4, :57 and 1:25.3 en route to his second straight victory for owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale, P.E.I. Aled Hanover rallied late to grab second for Alex Sobey over five lengths behind the winner while Eagle Luck and Jason Hughes finished third.

Open trotter Caliban Hanover made it four wins in a row after capturing the Dave Younker Memorial for trainer-driver Ron Gass and owner Wendell MacDonald of Cornwall, P.E.I. The trotter stopped the timer in 1:59.4 and held off challenges from Saulsbrook Balance, driven by Willie Murphy, and B J Eldorado, with Kenny Arsenault aboard.

Jackie Matheson scored a training triple during the 12-race card with Balanchine, Carpandero Hanover and Largo Hall.
