It has been reported that on February 15, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission upheld its decision to suspend its recently-fired chief state steward John Veitch.
An article on thehorse.com explains that Veitch was fired by the KHRC on November 28, 2011, but that Robert Layton, the chief hearing officer and executive director of the Kentucky Office of Administrative Hearings, had handed Veitch a 365-day suspension, which began yesterday (February 16, 2012).
The report explains that the suspension would be imposed if Veitch successfully appealed his firing.
The suspension and firing is a direct result of the situation surrounding the distaffer Life At Ten during the 2010 edition of the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic.
