A quartet of sophomore trotters faced the gate in Wednesday’s lone division of the Nova Scotia Stakes Series at Inverness Raceway, and when the dust settled it was West River Victory turned in a decisive score

in the $4,000 tilt.

Despite being winless in his first 11 assignments, the son of Meadowagogo-Dunmore Skye was sent off as the 1-5 favorite and he didn’t disappoint.

Trainer/driver Clare MacDonald hustled West River Victory to the lead from Post 2, and together they traveled through intervals of :32.3, 1:05.4 and 1:37.4 en route to the 2:07.4 triumph. It was fourth length back to runner-up Miss Louhannaridge, and another 19 lengths in arrears to Saulsbrook Wind who was third.

Winless in nine starts as a rookie and now 1-for-3 to begin his sophomore season, West River Victory has potted just over $10,000 for owner/breeder West River Stock Farm of Antagonism, NS.
