The Atlantic Sires Stakes program rolled into Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon, with three-year-old pacing colts and geldings doing battle in a trio of divisions

A set of $9,700 “A” divisions were featured, with P H Hotshot winning his split by a 10-length margin in 2:00.1. Todd Trites had the son of Mantorious-Take Me Higher lay down fractions of :30.3, 1:02 and 1:31.4 before slipping home in :28.2 to stop the teletimer in 2:00.1. Ultimate Yankee was next best, with Rugged Coast grabbing third prize.
Dr. Trevin Shive conditions the gelding for owner/breeder Dr. James Shive of Shubenacadie, NS. Unraced as a rookie, P H Hotshot is now 5-for-13 this season with earnings of $24,214.
The second divisions went to Allbentouttashape, who was a handy winner in 2:02 for driver Kenny Arsenault. The son of Quick Comeback-C A Lady front-stepped the field through fractions of :29.4, 1:02 and 1:32.1 before kicking home in :29.4 to defeat Dr Alexander B and Box Car Johnnie.
Sean Dooley trains the productive performer for Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, NS. He put together a 13-3-0 record last year despite only facing the gate 16 times. The gelding has banked more than $81,000 in his career.
The lone $2,500 “B” division went to Elm Grove Eagle in 2:05.2. Despite making a break on the way to the mid-way point, the son of Rayson Hanover-Familiarization front-stepped to a 2:05.2 decision over Indian Victory and Fit To Ben Tied.
Myles Heffernan mapped out the winning trip for the youngster, who now boasts a 2-for-3 record this season for trainer Lorne Grant after going unraced as a rookie. Grant shares ownership on the pacer with James O’Neill of Glace Bay, NS.
