The Friday evening program at Northlands Park belonged to horseman Gerry Hudon, who sent out three winners from his own outfit and tacked on a couple of catch-driving scores to bring his daily win total to five at the Alberta oval

.

Hudon, who was one of three candidates in the O’Brien Award of Horsemanship category in 2009, clicked with KG Camelot in the opener. The three-year-old son of Allamerican Merlin was sent off as the 1-5 favourite, and the gelding didn’t disappoint his backers en route to posting the 1:56.3 victory. Hudon’s next win, however, was a triumph in Race 5 with the Lance Ward-trained Red Star Cowgirl. The nine-year-old Storm Compensation miss won by more than three lengths in 1:57.1.

Shes A Jewel took the very next race for Hudon, thus completing his driving hat trick and the training double. The six-year-old Allamerican Ingot mare led every step of the way en route to posting the half-length tally in 1:57.2. He and trainer Lance Ward also prevailed with Bandit On The Run in 1:55.3. The four-year-old son of Marlow Hanover delivered on a 2-1 pari-mutuel promise to his backers.

Hudon wrapped up his training hat trick and completed his five-win performance in the racebike thanks to a 1:54.3 score with Timberline Court. The five-year-old son of With Held, who is owned by Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie and Hudon of Edmonton, AB, took his $12,000 assignment in coast-to-coast fashion. Coupled in the wagering and sent off as the even-money choice, Timberline Court notched his third win of the campaign in the process. The 18-time winner has stashed away more than $239,000 in his career.
