Former driver, trainer and Standardbred owner William Donald "Don" Kehoe of Ottawa, Ont. passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute on Thursday, Oct. 14 with family at his side. He was 67.

Loving son of Rita and the late Leslie Kehoe. Don will be sadly missed by his brother Terry (Sheila) his cherished niece Jessica (Cole) and nephew Craig (Lauren). Don was a proud great uncle to Lexi.

In his mid teens, Don worked at Eric and Korleen Stone’s farm where he and Ron started a successful Standardbred racing stable. After 30 years, Don retired from the horse racing industry and joined the RCMP stables, where he worked for the next 15 years. Don cared for many horses over his life and he treated them as if they were his children. His fondest memory was at the age of six driving a team of horses at a local fair with his grandfather Warren Campbell.

Don was a proud and caring member of the AA family. They were his extended family.

A service for family and invited friends will be held at St. Edward’s Church, Bristol, Que.

“Heaven is a place where all the horses you’ve ever loved and cared for come running to greet you.”

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Don Kehoe.
