It’s now three straight scores and counting for Dontpokethedragon thanks to his 1:55.2 triumph in Friday’s featured $12,000 Open Handicap for pacers at Fraser Downs.

Brandon Campbell powered off the wings of the starting gate with the Jim Marino trainee, and in doing so wound up in an early battle with race favourite Kneedeep N Custard. The duo waged war to the quarter pole in :27.2 before Kneedeep N Custard eventually worked his way to the top.

Dontpokethedragon stalked the leader through middle fractions of :57 and 1:26.3 before rallying home in :28.3 to win by a half-length margin over Armycaptain Hanover. Kneedeep N Custard, who was beaten that same margin, was third.

Paul Sanders, J J J Stables and Jim Marino share ownership on the four-year-old son of Custard The Dragon-Rummys Command who is a perfect three-for-three since moving to Marino’s barn. The eight-time winner is quickly closing in on $100,000 in career earnings.

Hoerdt ended the night with a win aboard Gambling Prince to conclude his evening with a training hat-trick. In addition to the victory with Gambling Prince, he connected with Flash A Smile (1:55.1, $4.00) in the third race and Codename Cigar Box (1:55.2, $4.10) in the seventh, driving all three of his trainees.
