The Yankee Glide gelding Yankees Beast, a noted closer, got his preferred second-over trip and had the most late in winning the $13,600 feature on the ‘Trottin’ Thursday’ card at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Marcus Miller swung the Anette Lorentzon trainee three-wide late on the far turn and overhauled pacesetting Macmorris Hanover by a length at the end of the 1:54.3 mile. Patriarch Hanover parked a long way before making the lead and then surrendering it to Macmorris Hanover, was third, another three-quarters of a length behind the winner of two of his last three starts. Anna Kristina Lorentzon owns Yankees Beast.

Rosalie Swan came to the Pat Lachance barn from Ohio at the end of August, and the three-year-old Sebastian K S filly Rosalie Swan has quickly taken to her new surroundings, with a local scorecard of 7-5-1-0-$34,645, including winning her last four. The latest win came in 1:55 in the $12,800 co-feature, where she moved out from third before the three-quarters for trainer/driver Lachance and went right to the lead en route to a 1-1/4 length triumph for owner Helen Duer.

The Muscle Hill gelding Goes Down Smooth didn’t get the lead until nearing the half in the $11,600 top fast-class trot, but there was no stopping him from there as he drew away to tally by three lengths in 1:52.4. Anthony Morgan drove the winner of $289,215 for the meet’s leading trainer, Ron Burke, and the partnership of Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Bill Switala and James Martin.

Post time for Friday’s card at Harrah’s Philadelphia will be 2:05 p.m., so that fans of both Standardbred and Thoroughbred racing can have the best of both worlds, in the latter case the first day of Breeders Cup competition from Keeneland.
