Trainer-driver Shawn Steacy sent Hello Love to the front and faced little challenge when taking the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace, the featured event on the eight-race card opening the Georgian Downs meet Saturday (June 6).
Leaving from post 5, Hello Love hit the quarter in :27.4 with Azure Seelster sitting the pocket and Significance racing third. Pacing middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:24.4, the five-year-old Shadow Play mare continued uncontested on the lead into the final turn and began to extend her lead. Through the lane Hello Love opened three lengths on Azure Seelster with a :27.4 final quarter to stop the clock in 1:52.3. Significance gave chase in third.
Owned by Hello Love Stable, Landmark 11 Racing Stable and Landmark 10 Racing Stable, Hello Love won her second race from five starts this season and her 15th from 54 overall, earning $189,332. She paid $4.60 to win.
