Mac Hillis Passes

Standardbred horseman Mac Hillis, who was born and raised in Elora, Ont., passed away with family by his side on Monday, August 5 at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of Phyllis (nee: Hodson). Loving father of Juanda Hillis and Michael (Barbara) Hillis. Cherished grandfather of Stacey (Scott) Holloway, Keri (Allan) Hons and Ben (Lael) Hillis. Proud great grandfather of Hayden and Hudson Boyd, Grace and Emma Hons and Cameron and Logan Hillis. Mac will be missed by Cesar, his little buddy.

Survived by sister Shirley Cudney and brother-in-law Les Cudney. Predeceased by his parents George and Lizzie Hillis, siblings Dorothy, Bill, Gladys and Donny.

Mac was well known for his hockey and his passion for horses. He loved riding, racing and training his horses. He was also well known for his love of life, family and his silly antics and quick wit. Anyone who spent time around Mac will always remember his jovial laugh.

To honour Mac’s wishes, a private family interment has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mac’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.grahamgiddyfh.com).
