Multiple Standardbred racetracks have cancelled either live racing or training for Tuesday (Feb. 12) and Trot Insider has compiled the most up to date notices that have been sent to the industry.

In addition to racetracks, three racing organizations (Standardbred Canada, COSA, OHHA) have also closed their respective offices for Tuesday due to the weather.

Officials with The Raceway at Western Fair District announced Monday that the track had cancelled training for Tuesday morning (Feb. 12). The cancellation came due to the impending inclement weather that was expected to hit southwestern Ontario throughout Monday evening and into Tuesday. The Raceway at Western Fair District is scheduled to host a pari-mutuel program tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 12) that is set to head postward at 6:15 p.m. To view the entries, click here.

Officials with Woodbine Mohawk Park would like to inform all horsepeople that the track and paddock will be unavailable for training on Tuesday (Feb. 12) and Wednesday (Feb. 13). The cancellation of training is due to impending snowstorm hitting Milton and surrounding areas. The track is tentatively scheduled to re-open Thursday morning at 7 a.m.

Ahead of predicted treacherous weather in the New York metropolitan area, officials with Yonkers Raceway announced that the track had gone ahead and cancelled its live program for Tuesday evening. It’s the track’s third cancellation of 2019. Evening simulcasting has also been cancelled (no afternoon simulcasting was scheduled). Live racing at Yonkers is now set to resume Thursday evening (Feb. 14) at 6:50 p.m.

On Monday, officials with Monticello Raceway announced that the track had decided to cancel its program of racing that was scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 12). Via release, the track stated that the cancellation came due to the timing of the snow that is expected to hit the area Tuesday morning. The snowfall is expected to make for hazardous conditions for horses that would have been shipping in from nearby training centres and farms. Live racing at Monticello is scheduled to resume on Wednesday (Feb. 13). Monticello officials have announced alternative qualifying plans in light of the adverse weather conditions.
