A classy group of trotting mares were in the spotlight Monday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, and a graduate of the Ontario Sires Stakes program stepped up her game en route to an impressive score for driver Paul MacDonell.
Youre Majestic, a talented lass from the stable of trainer Tony O’Sullivan, sailed to an eye-catching triumph in the $24,000 Fillies & Mares Trot in a sharp clocking of 1:54.
MacDonell got away fourth with the five-year-old daughter of Majestic Son-Youre Adorable while Stormont Kate sprinted through fractions of :27 and :56. Youre Majestic made a first-over move as the field headed into the final turn, and she accelerated to the lead while racing parked at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4.
She summoned up :29.1 closing speed, and as a result she won in going away fashion by 4-1/4 lengths over race favourite Emoticon Hanover. Renegade Magic rounded out the top three finishers.
F Bellino And Sons LLC of Bronxville, NY owns the talented trotter who was purchased for a mere $2,000 from the 2013 Blooded Horse Sale. Since then, she’s racked up 12 lifetime wins and purses in excess of $426,000.
