Zeron Discusses Support For Rutter

After having flown to Western Canada to participate in BC Breeders Classic Day November 11 at Fraser Downs, top Canadian trainer/driver Rick Zeron has spoken to The Vancouver Province about his support for young Cole Rutter.

Along with fellow Ontario driver Mark MacDonald and the reinsman from BC, Zeron stepped up to the plate to support Rutter, the 12-year-old son of trainer Carol St. Amand. Rutter was seriously injured in an ATV accident two months ago. He is in the Intensive Care Unit of the Children's Hospital in Vancouver where he lay paralyzed as a result of the September 7 accident.

Zeron and MacDonald combined to win seven races on the $400,000 BC Breeders Classic program and both donated their winnings to support Rutter.

"This was a good cause and I try to do as much as I can to give back to the racing industry," said Zeron. "I have been very fortunate in the racing industry to do very well during my racing career.

"And whenever someone reaches out to do something like this and it is not interfering with my driving, you can count me in.
