Freshmen pacing fillies made their way to Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night in search of a chunk of the $100,000 that was up for grabs in the fourth OSS Grassroots event of the season for the youngsters.
Tomorrowpan kicked things off with a 1:57.2 in her $20,000 division for trainer Bob McIntosh and driver Brad Forward. The homebred daughter of No Pan Intended picked up her fourth win of the season, and her third in the OSS, for the Peter Pan Stables Inc. of Pepper Pike, OH.
Stonebridge Breeze clicked in the second split for the father/son duo of trainer Gregg McNair and driver Doug McNair. The Camluck filly, who was bred by Angie Stiller, stopped the clock in 1:59.4. Stiller shares ownership on the three-time winner with the Artana Stables of St. Thomas, ON.
Grin A Peg went the distance in her $20,000 assignment, winning in a time of 1:59 for driver Gord Brown and trainer Carl Jamieson. The Mantacular miss, who is a two-time winner in five starts, is owned by Manitobans Keith Earle and Donald Ransom.
Classic Sakuri prevailed by a narrow margin in the fourth division, winning in a time of 1:58.1 for breeder/trainer Stanley Malec and driver Alfie Carroll. The Astreos filly, who is owned by Classic Farms of Belle River, ON, owns a 2-1-1 record in four lifetime starts.
Star Of Show picked up her second consecutive victory for the duo of trainer Mark Steacy and driver Gord Brown in the final division. The Astreos youngster stopped the clock in 2:00.4 en route to bumping her bankroll to $14,410 for owners Peter & David Heffering of Port Perry, ON.
The next stop on the OSS trail for the Grassrooters is Flamboro Downs on September 26.
