Lyle MacArthur guided the tough open-class pacer Secrets Nephew to two milestones with a win in Saturday's $47,000 Open Pace at Mohawk Racetrack, while also inching closer to millionaire status.
On top through fractions of :26.1, :54.2 and 1:22.1, Secrets Nephew held off early bid of Zooka (Mario Baillargeon) and the late challenge of Bigtime Ball (Roger Mayotte) to hit the line one length to the good in 1:49.3 – a new lifetime mark and career win number 30. Bigtime Ball finished second while Soul Chaser (Mark MacDonald), who had the pocket trip behind the winner, managed third.
MacArthur trains and co-owns the six-year-old Camluck – Table For Seven horse with Frank Grandinetti of Amherst, New York. Win the win, Secrets Nephew is less than $33,000 from entrance into harness racing's millionaire's club.
