Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) will be honoured again for being a leading edge corporation for environmental stewardship with the JohnsonDiversey's "Sustainable Facility Care Award", the first Canadian corporation to receive this distinction.

The Award will be presented to WEG Chairman and CEO, David Willmot, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Standardbred Paddock on October 9, 2008.

This prestigious award recognizes facilities that demonstrate a firm commitment to environmental sustaintability.

Tom Seitz, Director of Environmental Sustainability for JohnsonDiversey, said "WEG has gone beyond their well documented programs to reduce energy, water and waste. They have looked into the daily operations and maintenance of their buildings to ensure that they're being cleaned for health, safety and environment. While this is sometimes overlooked by some of the greenest buildings in the world, WEG has carefully assessed the chemicals, equipment and procedures used within its properties."

In response the Chairman and CEO for WEG, David Willmot, said "WEG is proud of this acknowledgement of our green initiatives throughout our facilities. As a corporation, we incorporate environmental preservation into all aspects of our business. WEG believes its corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship roles are important strategies for our future."

WEG is the largest operator of horse racing in Canada and is recognized as one of the most innovative in North America.

WEG owns and operates Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, ON; Mohawk Racetrack in Campbellville, ON; 27 off-track wagering operations through its Champions Teletheatre Network; Turf Lounge in downtown Toronto, ON; WEGZ Stadium Bar in Vaughan, ON; HorsePlayer interactive("HPI"), an extensive telephone, internet and wireless account wagering system; and HPItv, a 24 hour horse racing television network.
