Umphrey To Ontario

One of Alberta's top trainers will soon be making his presence felt on the nation's top circuit as Travis Umphrey will be setting up shop with a stable in Ontario and plans to compete at Woodbine Racetrack.

Citing the instability of the racing industry in Alberta, Umphrey told Trot Insider that he will make the move to Mac Nichol's Ideal Training Centre at the end of December with a stable of 12 horses that includes Northlands Park's sophomore pacing filly track record holder A Ps Money Maker.

Umphrey boasts 740 lifetime training wins and over $5 million in purses while maintaining a UTRS of over 0.300 for six consecutive seasons.

I know that you will make a big splash there! I think if you stay clean!!! YOU could reach the top!!SO STAY CLEAN!!!!!GOOOD LUCK!!!

Going to find it a little tougher in Ontario than in Alberta, judging from your numbers, you've improved from where you were, but time will tell. You should fit right in where you are heading to. Rod Hennessy is a great trainer, and he found it tough sledding, so it will be interesting to see how you fare, good luck, you'll need it

Its terrible that Alberta is losing some of their best guys to Ontario. The way the economy is "out west" they should be the hot spot for horse racing. The money that is being thrown around to workers in the oil business and every other business out there but harness racing is struggling when it should be propering as well. Good luck Travis, you fit right in on the WEG circuit

I've had the priviledge of calling many a race winner for the Travis Umhprey Stable in Alberta.
Umphrey's horses always look spectacular on the track. He's a true professional at what he does and his outgoing personality will no doubt be a bonus for the good folks involved with racing in Ontario.

Best of luck Trav... see you on the tube!

All the best out there man, have to the make the move that keeps your world going round. Its tough everywhere nowadays, no matter where you go, the money is there and a good barn like yours will make it anywhere you go. Good luck out there, its definitely a good decision on your part.

travis will do a great job as he is very well liked on the alberta circut always a
gentlemen and kind to everyone. He is also very fair to his staff great job travis

Travis will do very well in ontario, albertas faltering racing industry,is ontarios profit.I cant help but think of the old saying "this industry is just ,a nickel short and a day late" when it comes to our racing industry in this country.Alberta should not be losing any trainers to any province, if anything their should be trainers clamoring to come here ,for some reason thats not the case.POSSIBLY because its the one industy in alberta that is not privately run or operated .Any time you get a bunch of board members, trying to run an operation, and theirs in this case more than one board, its been my expereince, that egos, no accountabilty, and lots and lots of studys and surveys and checking out for input from all the stake holders involved happens.!!

WHICH really means money gets spent and no decisions have been made, theirs been alot of rubber burnt but the tires never went anywhere.I'd be interested to know if any one from alberta feels the same way.WELL this is my first time writing anything, like this, and what did I do.I became like the board members I ran off the track, like a horse.I was talking about Travis and then went off track,I made a 90 degreer TRAVIS like those board members.I wish you all the success in the world no matter where your at,you will be missed from us her in alberta.
