There is no shortage of horses at the Delaware County Fair. Twenty races, featuring five divisions of Ohio Breeders Championships, are scheduled for opening day, Sunday, September 14. First race post time is 12:00 noon.
Fifteen two-year-old pacing fillies will race in two $30,263 divisions of the OBC Pace, the third leg of the Ohio Triple Crown.
Down The Wire Stable's Best Of Ball, unbeaten in seven lifetime starts, captured the $23,600 Ohio State Fair Stake and the $80,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Championship.
Trained and driven by Jim Dailey, the daughter of Presidential Ball has earned $94,650 and a record of 1:56 taken in last Saturday's Ohio Sires Stakes final at Scioto Downs. Best Of Ball, who is in the first division, will start from Post 2.
Holdzmfromfloppin, who also won a State Fair division, will be Best Of Ball's main rival from the outside Post 7 for trainer-driver Lanny Merriman.
Jellyfish Joy is the early favourite in the second $30,263 division from Post 4. The Daniel Wozniak-owned filly also won a division of the Ohio State Fair. Brian Brown is the trainer and the filly will be driven by Chris Page.
Also on Sunday's program are three $19,579 divisions of the three-year-old filly trot.
