The Trillium Series made a stop at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening, with three-year-old trotting fillies strutting their stuff in a trio of divisions.
Jayporthasitall kicked things off with an eye-catching score in her $23,485 split for the team of driver Brad Forward and trainer Dan Creighton.
The daughter of Striking Sahbra used off-the-pace tactics to defeat Travelin Supergirl and Grammy Hall. It was the seventh win of the campaign for Jayporthasitall, who has stashed away $65,851 for the Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, ON.
Torch took her $23,095 assignment in a time of 2:00.3 for trainer/driver Carl Jamieson, who also used come-from-behind tactics to score the victory.
The daughter of Kadabra, who is owned by Jamieson and partner Ken Henwood of Mississauga, ON, ousted World Premiere and Random Solution en route to her first win of the season in 10 attempts. She has banked $324,406 to date.
Valley Courtney turned in the quickest Trillium Series clocking of the night when she sped to a 1:58.3 victory in her $23,485 division for trainer John Bax and driver Steve Sills.
The Striking Sahbra miss hauled down pacesetter Ms Naughty in the final strides. Ms Naughty, however, was placed sixth for causing interference to another rival. The other Bax pupil, Gaelic Mistress, finished third-placed-second and Risk Seeker was fourth-placed-third.
Bax shares ownership on the five-time winner with partner Harry Locke of Oshawa, ON. The victory bumped Valley Courtney's lifetime earnings to $83,197.
Rideau also featured a pair of $13,400 Preferred events as part of its solid undercard on Thursday evening.
Priceless Edition and driver Gord Brown front-stepped to a 1:54.4 score in the Preferred Pace, while Rate Exchange and Ted McDonald came first over to take the Preferred Trot in a time of 1:59.3.
