Swift Kid extended his winning streak to six with a victory in the $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes – Green Acres final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings this afternoon at Freehold Raceway.
The gelded son of Yankee Glide, driven by Jack Baggitt Jr. and trained by Ray Remmen, has not lost a race since August 5. He now has seven wins, three seconds and three thirds from 16 starts and earnings of $56,100 for owner John Lichtenberger of North Bergen, New Jersey.
Swift Kid ($9.00, $3.00, $2.10), who was unraced at two, trotted the mile in a career best 1:59.3, catching 3-5 favourite Rin Tin Cin ($3.00, $2.00) for a half-length victory. It was a length and three-quarters back to Native Yankee ($2.20) in third.
For Rin Tin Cin, a son of Muscles Yankee, the loss snapped a four-race winning streak. Native Yankee is by Yankee Glide and is also trained by Remmen.
