Teague, Gingras Comment On 'Pace' Elim

Badlands Nitro's trainer George Teague, Jr. and Moon Beam's driver Yannick Gingras have made some interesting comments about the showdown they face with Somebeachsomewhere Saturday in the Meadowlands Pace eliminations.

"He's coming in [in good shape]," Teague told Mike Curci about Badlands Nitro during an interview on Meadowlands Racing Insider. "He's had a couple of races at Yonkers (a sweep of the Art Rooney) and neither of them were easy, but he still seems to be fresh. He's been pounding every week, but he doesn't seem any worse for wear."

Badlands Nitro has drawn Post 6 against Somebeachsomewhere, who has drawn the five hole. Moon Beam has drawn Post 2, and pilot Gingras voiced some interesting opinions about 'The Beach' racing down at the East Rutherford, New Jersey oval.

"I think [Somebeachsomewhere] is a great horse, but I don't think he's invincible," Gingras said during the Meadowlands Racing Insider interview.

"[At the Meadowlands] if you put ten good pacers against him [Somebeachsomewhere] he's going to have to earn it. That's one thing about the Meadowlands, there's a flow -- there's not going to be an easy three-eighths or something for him."

Gingras went on to say, "If some horses go at it, I think it's going to be a very interesting race."
