Sudbury Downs announced this morning that due to the extended labour dispute by OLG employees at the facility, the track will be implementing a significantly reduced purse structure, effective July 9, 2008.
The release appears below in its entirety.
Significant Purse Cuts at Sudbury Downs due to Continued OLG Labour Disruption
Regrettably, due to the ongoing labour disruption by OLG employees at the Slots at Sudbury Downs we must implement a significantly reduced purse structure effective for our July 9, 2008 race program.
This reduced purse structure will ensure continued availability of purse money through to the end of our 2008 race season, concluding on December 31, 2008. If and when resolution of the OLG Strike occurs our purses will be revised back to regular levels at the first opportunity.
Sudbury Downs is hopeful the current labour disruption by OLG employees can be settled quickly and we look forward to resuming our customary purse distribution as early as possible once a settlement is reached.
